99 Coalbank Boundary Road
Directions:
We are 10 kms from the small town of Cooyar, 47 kms north-west of Oakey, 40 kms north of Crows Nest, 100 kms north of Toowoomba. You can come to us through either Oakey or Crows Nest. Through Oakey you take the Oakey-Cooyar Road, through the small town of Kulpi, and continue on until you climb to the top of the range where you will see a rest stop on the left and a road to the right which you need to take. It is the Highgrove-Thornville Road but it also has a Crows Nest sign and a Signwriter's sign on the post. One km in on the gravel road you will see our road, the Coalbank Boundary Road, on your right. The scenery is magnificent, so don't miss the turn! We are Number 99, on your left, one km down. The road is red gravel.
If coming through Crows Nest you are on the New England Highway. Our turnoff is about 35 kms along the highway from Crows Nest heading north. You will come to a very small Uniting Church on your left, then the Thornville Range Road also on your left and into which you will turn. It is on a culvert and has a turning lane for you. Just a warning that this road is gravel and has a steep gravel hill just before you reach the top of the range, so it's best not to attempt this approach in a truck or with a horse float. Instead you can continue on on the NE Highway and take the next left turn to Oakey which is on a bitumened road, and drive to the top of the range that way.
It is a lovely drive either way and the kettle will be on when you arrive!
Visitors from the north side of Brisbane or from the Sunshine Coast, can approach from the Brisbane Valley Highway, through Kilcoy, Blackbutt, Yarraman and Cooyar. Again, a lovely drive with very little traffic.
